Stella PR+ Marketing | Meanwhile on Instagram
If you’ve invested in an expensive camera for Instagram, pat yourself on the back because now you could too be used as a marketing tool. According to Statista, Instagram now has 1 billion monthly active users. With social media becoming so popular, it would be foolish for brands not to use this to their advantage. Every day we see more and more sponsored posts from those who have hundreds of thousands of followers to people who have over one million followers. Marketing Week is saying that this is the “digital alternative to word-of-mouth marketing.”

Influencers have a large following and typically when they like or promote something, their followers will like and buy the product as well. The benefit of marketing through an influencer is they have already created their brand. A company just has to find someone who resonates with their brand identity and they now have access to millions of potential customers. Another benefit is there areonly two costs to the company. The first cost being the payment to the influencer and the second is shipping them the product.

A common problem with influencers is that some influencers will promote something for the money and can give off a non-genuine feel. Consumers do not appreciate this and it will bring negative attention to the brand. With so many influencers to choose from, it is imperative the one that is pickedfits perfectly with the brand. When an influencer legitimately enjoys the product, it is evident and their passion comes through. If this is the case, their followers eat it up and assume that if their favorite Instagrammerloves it, they will too.

With the benefits outweighing the costs and risks, using influencers to market a product is a wise choice. With the low cost and huge target, companies can reach this makes for the perfect way to connect with customers and get new products out there. Instagram is not predicted to slow down in their growth. This means that more and more people can be reached every daythrough influencer marketing but just be careful you pick one that is on brand!
